Biography

John was born in 1820 in St. John. He married Margaret Ann Burns and they had at least 5 children, several of them dying young. George A. Belmore and Margaret A. Belmore were the surviving offspring. John was a master mariner, commander of at least two steam ships, Princess Royal and City of Saint John. His wife died in 1872 and he passed away in 1873. Captain John Belmore was buried in Fernwood Cemetery.
