Biography

Edmund's origins are currently unknown. Regarding his given name, in the earliest Chuckatuck manuscripts his name is given as Ormond or Omond. Likewise his son's name is written as Ormond or Omond. It is unknown why transcribers, including Hinshaw, have changed this to Edmund but that will be used at this time to prevent confusion as this is the commonly seen given name.

We know from the Quaker record of his children^[1] and his son Edmund's marriage record that his wife was named Elizabeth.^[2]

Edmund and Elizabeth had three known children:^[1]

Edmund b 11th 9th mo 1664

Elizabeth b "last day" 6th mo 1666

Mary b 24th 3 mo 1678 (it does appear his daughter Mary was born after his death)

Edmund Bellson (also seen Belson and Bolson within Quaker meeting minutes) passed away 19 Jan 1678 in Virginia, either Isle of Wight or Nansemond counties.^[3][4]
