Leonard Belt was the second son of Robert Belt of Bossall in Yorkshire and his wife, Goodeth Pegge. [1] He was baptised at Bossall on 18 January 1688. [1][2]
Leonard made his way to London to earn his living as a dry salter. [1] He married Mary Hammond who bore him a daughter, Mary. [1][2]
