Benjamin was born in 1682. He died in 1772 at the age of 89.
He had made depositions in Prince George's and Anne Arundel Counties, giving his age as 56 in 1738, 66 in 1748, 73 in 1755 and 83 in 1765. In 11/1714, he was Overseer of Highways for Patuxen Hundred. In 11/1715, he was allowed 1000 pounds of tobacco for keeping Eliza Norman's child.
Benjamin's Will[1]. Will dated 19 June 1772 and proved 28 May 1773 in Prince George's County and at Annapolis.
1697. By his Father's will, he inherited 200 acres, part of "Belt's Posterity" in Baltimore County, Maryland. It was at the head of the Gunpowder River. The remaining 100 acres, falling to his brother Joseph.
1714. In The Prince George's County, Maryland Court records, page 721. March 1714/15: "Bastardly Elizabeth Norman confesses the fact refuses to tell the Father--serve Benjamin Belt her now master 6 months".. page 15 , November 1715 "Benj. Belt for keeping Eliza Norman's child 1000 pounds. (of tobacco).
1717. Benjamin Belt had a son named Middleton Belt. It was later a distinctive name in this branch of the family. Some believe that Elizabeth Belt was a Middleton.
1719. 18th June, William & Elizabeth Middleton of Charles County, Maryland gave Benjamin Belt of Prince Georges County, Maryland 123 acres of land located in Prince George's County called "Godfather's Gift". This land was located in the Eastern branch of the Potomac. This record is located in the Land Records of Prince George's, Maryland 1717 - 1726. Page 19.
