Biography

Elias was born in 1846. He was the son of Richard Belt and Elizabeth Cole. He is with his father's family in Ingham Twp., Franklin Co., Iowa in 1860. ^[1] He married Clarinda Harlan 8 Nov 1869 in Butler County^[2] , and is living with her in Washington Twp., Black Hawk Co., Iowa in 1870.^[3] They had moved to Amsterdam Twp., Hancock County, Iowa, by 1880.^[4] He was listed as subject to military duty 21 Jun 1875. ^[5] The couple had eleven children. He is alone and widowed in the 1925 State census. ^[6] He passed away in 1926. ^{[7] [8]}
