Biography

Samuel Beltz served in the United States Civil War.

Daniel Beltz was born April 19, 1846 in Richfield, Adams County, Illinois. He was the son of Jacob and Eunice (Olmsted) Beltz, also found as BELTS. [1] [2] [3] [4]

He enlisted in the Army on August 14, 1862 in Richfield, Illinois to serve for 3 years, posing as an 18-year-old. He was mustered in with Company F, 118th Illinois Infantry at Camp Butler, Illinois on November 7, 1862. His father died of wounds in January 1863 but Daniel continued to serve, mustering out October 1, 1865 at Baton Rouge, Louisiana. [5]

He married the widow Mary E. (Stillwell) Welton on July 6, 1879 in Adams County. [6]

Daniel died May 10, 1915 in Kingston, Adams County, Illinois. He is buried in Kingston Park Cemetery, Beverly Township, Adams County, Illinois. [7]

When Samuel Daniel Belts (Beltz) was born on April 19, 1846, in Richfield, Illinois, his father, Jacob, was 24 and his mother, Eunice, was 20. He married Elizabeth Frances "Lydia" Rennecker and they had four children together. He then married Mary Elizabeth Stillwell (Welton) and they had two children together. He died on May 10, 1915, in Kingston, Illinois, at the age of 69, and was buried there.
