He was born about 1771 in Phillipse Manor, Westchester County, New York and his parents were Engeltje (Storm, 1730–1804) and Hendrick Bulyea (1720–1804).
The family were Loyalists.
In May 1783 his parents moved the family from New York to New Brunswick.
William Belyea married on 08 October 1801 to Phoebe Tucker (1786–1876), the daughter of a Loyalist family.
He worked on the family farm in Greenwich Hill until his father's death in 1802. As was the custom at the time he inherited the family homestead.
He died on 03 Oct 1862 in Greenwich, Kings County, New Brunswick and was buried in St.Paul's Anglican Church Cemetery at Oak Point, Kings County, New Brunswick. [1]
Canada was formed by confederation on 01 July 1867.
