  • Personal knowledge / next door neighbor and he was like a grandfather to me throughout my childhood - Gaynelle Craig Stephens (Johnny was cousin to my grandfather.) Johnny Belyea was reared by my great-grandmother & great- grandfather John Bunyan Craig & Wealthy Belyea Craig from infancy. His parents Harvey & Bessie Orser Belyea went west and intended to send for him, but when the time came that they could, he was too well situated and attached to John & Wealthy to be removed. Johnny lived his entire life within a square mile radius of where he was born. He and Jennie travelled to Royal Oak, Michigan to visit her brother, Randolph Henderson, and his wife Stella. They were the first household in Lower Windsor to have a television after electricity went through in 1951. Johnny was a mixed farmer on his 100 acre farm. When i was a small child Johnny gave me a runt of the litter piglet to raise. We kept it in a wooden box and bottle fed it until it had gained to a normal weight. Johnny & Jennie were wonderful people and so thoughtful. Johnny passed of liver cancer most likely caused by the use of DDT on the farm.

Research notes

According to Shaws of New Brunswick and Maine he was the son of J. Harvey Belyea (1868-1921) and Bessie Orser(1868-?), daughter of Joseph Orser and Catherine Jane Nevers.
