Reuben Bemis was born in Sudbury, Massachusetts in about 1767. Reuben is the son of John Bemis and Abigail Sanderson.

Reuben marries first to Lois Spencer, daughter of Timothy Spencer and Lois Hill of Springfield, Vermont on July 23, 1794 in Springfield. Lois was born in about 1775 in Springfield. She dies in Baltimore, Vermont on September 14, 1829 at the age of 54.

Rueben marries second to Clarissa Spooner on December 9, 1830 in Springfield, Vermont. Clarissa was born on March 13, 1805 in Springfield. She is the daughter of Benjamin Spooner and Mary Langsford. After Reuben's death in 1839, Clarissa marries to Lysander Davis of Springfield, Vermont.

Rueben dies on May 5, 1839 at Springfield, Vermont, USA.
