Francis Edward "Frank" Bender was born on 3 March 1870 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frank was the second youngest child of Philip Bender and Sarah Tuttle.[1]

He married Martha Hermann on September 17, 1890 in Camden, New Jersey.[2] Frank and Martha had 10 children together:
Frank had a 40-acre farm at Front and Nedro streets in Philadelphia and a home on four acres of land in Ocean City, New Jersey.
He died on April 22, 1953 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, United States of America[3]
