He was 13 when family came to America, sailing from Rotterdam Holland on the "Osgood", 29 Sept 1750. In 1776 he was a member of the committee of Safety and the Northampton Co. Militia. On 1 Apr 1809 Peter deeded two tracts of land in Plainfield Twp to his son, Conrad (Deed book E-5, page4). The first of these tracts was called "Dunkirk" and came from the Penns by purchase. The second was called Petersburg" and was transferred by Patent from Commonwealth of PA directly to Peter Bender on 21 Oct. 1791.

In his will he lists son Conrad, daughter Margaret wife of Adam Heimer (?spelling) daughter Christina, wife of George Dreisbach, John and Cathjerina Broeker children of daughter Margaret who married Lawrence Broeker. Considerable space in will is given over to his divorced 2nd wife Christina.
