Effie was the 2nd child of the family and was married to Robert Gillispie without many further details. Her obituary follows: The Record Delta-Effie Marie (Bender) Gillispie, age 86, of Serenity Care Home, Buckhannon, formerly of Rock Cave-Canaan Community, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at Serenity Home Care. She was born April 27, 1918 in Upshur County, West Virginia, the daughter of the late George Washington Bender and Clara Jane (Sines) Bender. She was united in marriage November 1, 1957 in Upshur County, West Virginia, to Robert Franklin Gillispie, who preceded her on death. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Melva of Kingwood, three grandchildren, Timothy and David Gillispie and Katherine Crim, four great-grandchildren, Scott, Tyler, Abby and Mick, survived by one brother, Seebert Bender of Rock Cave, two sisters, Pailine Everett of Morgantown and Joyce Strader of Amherst, Ohio. In addition to her father, mother and husband, Mrs. Gillispie was preceded in death by a daughter, Fern, three brothers, Lee, James and Paul Bender and one sister, Leona Long. Mrs. Gillispie was a member of the Canaan Community Church. Friends were received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Thursday April 21, from 6-8. Mrs. Gillispie will be moved to the Canaan Community Church on Friday April 22, where she will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. the funeral hour with the Rev. Junior Harris officiating. The burial will follow at the Canaan Church Cemetery. The Heavner and Cutright Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangmemts.
