In 1883 he married Annie Creighton in Christ Church, Fosbury, Wiltshire, one and a half miles from Oxenwood, in the parish of Shalbourne. No father's name is shown on the marriage, though Annie's is noted as James Creighton, a gamekeeper. Edward is stated to be living in Harmondsworth, Middlesex, and Annie in Fosbury. Edward was a carpenter, and they were both single. One of the witnesses was William Thomas Cannon, his half brother, the others were James and Emma Creighton.[4]

Research notes
Although he was born 10 months before William and Mary Jane's marriage, it is possible that William was the father, but as he is not mentioned on Edward's marriage record, it seems unlikely.
He seems to have used the surname Bendy throughout his life, being baptised and marrying with that name and witnessing his (half?) brother William Thomas' marriage with that name. As far as I've seen, the only place he's noted as Cannon is on the census forms, which was perhaps an assumption by the census taker.
