Private Nathan Benedict served with New York Militia during the American Revolution.

Nathan Benedict, baptized 18 March 1753 in New Cannan, Connecticut, was the son of Joseph Benedict[1] and Keziah Wood.[2]

In 1776, Nathan married Deborah (1755-1836), daughter of John Todd of Long Ridge CT, and they had the following children:[2]

  • John, born 11 Nov 1778
  • Polly, born Feb 1781, m. Obadiah Albee
  • Joseph, born Aug 1784, died Aug 1856
  • Joel, born 16 Nov 1786, died 27 Oct 1823
  • Betsey, born 1491, m. Simon Hill

Nathan may have been assessed $310 in tax in 1801 in Chenango, NY.[3]

Nathan died 13 Feb 1802 in Manlius.[2] "On Estate of Nathan Benedict dec'd, by John Benedict Lewis Northroup and Stephen Northroup all of Co. of Chenango, N.Y. for $1,000 on the sixth April 1803. Sd John Benedict the Admr"[4]

Nathan served with the rank of a private for New York during the American Revolution with Col. Thaddeus Crane. [5]
