Biography

BENEDICT - Genevieve [Jane] B. Garrison, 81, wife of Merle F. Garrison, of RD#1, Mansfield, died Friday, Sept. 13, 1985, in Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. Mrs. Garrison and her husband observed their 61st wedding anniversary in August. Born in Charleston Township June 20, 1904, she was a daughter of Harry A. and Louise Cruttenden Benedict. Mrs. Garrison was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Utopian Literary Club, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Corey Creek Golf club, all at Mansfield. Surviving besides her husband, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin and Lois Garrison of Mansfield, and Lewis and Joy Garrison of Wellsboro; a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Gerald Calkins of Mansfield; two sisters, Mrs. Winifred Buley of Waverly, NY, and Mrs. Helen Shepherd of Rosemont; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Monday, Sept. 16 at the church, Academy and East Wellsboro Streets, Mansfield. Burial was in Tioga County Memorial Gardens in Charleston Township. The Rev. James T. Dawes, her pastor, officiated.
