Obituary ^[6]Published in Express-News on Jul. 2, 2006. - Mrs. Judy Benes Franco, a woman with a brave and adventurous spirit passed away in San Antonio on June 29, 2006 at the age of fifty-seven. She was born on October 24, 1948 in Raymondville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband Sam Franco, her brother Ronnie D. Benes and by her mother-in-law Mary Franco. She is survived by her son Steven Franco and his fiancee Angie Garcia; parents Mr. and Mrs. Laddie B. and Grace Benes of Port Lavaca, Texas; brother Randy P. Benes and his wife Laura of Victoria, Texas; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and by her beloved dog Oscar. Judy was raised in Port Lavaca, Texas where she graduated from Calhoun High in 1966. She is a 1969 graduate of Texas State University. For over thirty-three years she touched countless lives as a teacher with the Harlandale and Southwest Independent School Districts.
