Biography

Henry Benfield was born in Middlesex, England.

Henry Benfield was born in 1823. He was the son of gentleman, Henry Benfield and Mary Russell. Henry was baptised on 20th May 1823, in St Giles in the Field, Holborn, Middlesex. ^[1]

In 1842, Henry married Caroline Benfield. The marriage was registered in St George Southwark, Middlesex. ^[2]

In 1851, Henry and his wife were residing in Barclay Street, St Pancras, Middlesex. At the time, there were two children in the household: Caroline (2); and Elizabeth (0). Henry was employed as a cabinet maker. ^[3]

In 1871, Henry and his wife were living in Somers Town, in St Pancras. Henry was 47-years-old. There were six children in the household.

In 1881, Henry and his wife were still residing in St Pancras. In the household were five of their children, Henry's mother and a granddaughter, Maude (8). ^[5]

In 1901, Henry was residing with his daughter, Clara and her husband in St Pancras. The census transcript referenced here doesn't show this, but it does note he is the father-in-law (Clara's husband was head of household). - Original has been viewed and confirmed he was in the Daffey household^[7]

Henry passed away in 1908. His death was registered in in St Pancras. He was 87-years-old. ^[8]
