Johan Vadgar Benjaminsson was born on October 13, 1881 at Hammarby in Nora bergsförsamling, Örebro, Sweden.[1] He is a son of Johan Benjaminsson and Carolina Persdotter. He lived with his parents and siblings in Hammarby.[2][3][4] In 1887, they moved to Degernäs in Degerfors.[5] They moved back to Hammarby in Nora in 1890.[6][7] He moved to Eskilstuna in Södermanland in 1907.[8]
Vadgar, often called "Bene," was very active in various associations up Konsum in Kristinehamn. He was involved in starting Folkets Hus where he was treasurer of Folkets Park. Vice chairman of the Swedish Metal Industry Association, division 111, he sat on the board for over 30 years. He was an iron turner at KMW in Kristinehamn. They made propellers. He was also a member of the City Council in various administrations for many years. In 1936 he got cancer of the colon and got a stoma as one of the first in Sweden. On 16 Apr 1954, he became a widower. Vadgar traveled a lot with the pensioners to different places in Sweden. He died on December 30, 1968 in a hospital in Kristinehamn, Värmland, Sweden.[13]
