Maria Margretha was the wife of Justus Henrich Schafer (aka Jost, and John Henry Schafer) She delivered her child, Elisabetha on board the ship "Midfort" presumably during a trans-atlantic crossing to the New Netherlands:
On April 12, 1710, Elisabetha Schafer was baptized on board the ship "Midfort," daughter of Justus Henrich Shafer and his wife, Maria Margretha. Witnesses to the baptism were Johann Leonahard Rud and Anna Elisabetha Casslemannin. The baptism was recorded in the records of the Baptisms at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, West Camp, New York. 1708-1711 and is part of the collection of Colonial New York Church Records: Southern New York Church Records Of Churches Organized Before 1788, in the present counties of Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Ulster, Sullivan and Westchester in New York; Hudson County in New Jersey, 1660 which may be found here: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nycoloni/dchsouth.html
On her deathbed in 1710 she bequeathed a white linen cloth for use on the alter or table for divine services.
Maria's birth date is estimated and is based on her oldest child's birth date.
