Biography

Adam was born October 30, 1912, in Calgary, Alberta. He was the son of Peter Benner and Anna Schneidmiller. He was raised in the immigrant community of Bridgeland-Riverside. In 1938 he married Lydia Kromm who also was descended from Germans from Russia. Like his father, Adam was employed at Dominion Bridge for most of his working life. He and family continued to live in Bridgeland-Riverside one street over from his parents and his in-laws. Adam died at his residence (511 - 7th St. N.E.) and is buried at Queen's Park Cemetery

BENNER - April 24, 1967, Adam, aged 54 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Lydia Benner, 511 7th St. N.E., passed away suddenly at his residence. Born at Calgary, Mr. Benner resided at Calgary all his life. He was employed with Dominion Bridge Co. Ltd. for the past 39 years and was a 25-year member of Dominion Bridge Co. Ltd. Besides his loving wife he is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lorne (Eleanor) Tilden; one son, Roger; one grandson, Kevin Tilden; his father, Mrs. Peter Benner: four sisters, Mrs. Woodrow (Marie) Scheuerman, Mrs. Jim (Emma) Peterson, Mrs. Martin (Annie Rausch and Mrs. Bob (Dolores) Veitch, all of Calgary; two brothers, Daniel Benner, England and Edward Benner, Calgary. He was predeceased by his mother, Mrs. Anna Marie Benner, April 2, 1964. Services at LEYDEN'S "Chapel of Remembrance" (18th Ave. and 2nd St. S.W.) Wednesday, 2 p.m. Rev. H. M. Steinert officiating. Interment Queen's Park Cemetery. Courtesy parking north of the chapel.
