Alexander Patterson, postoffice Putnam, was born in 1829, of Scotch-Irish descent, in Carroll county, Ohio.In 1857 he married Elizabeth Benner.
Of his family of four children—three sons and a daughter—his wife and two oldest sons are deceased.
