Biography

William Alexander Bennett was born on 9 October 1863 at 1, Roberts Place, Bentley Street, Gravesend, he was the son of Robert Bennett and Sarah Shovlar ^[1]

He was baptised in Holy Trinity, Milton by Gravesend, on 26 June 1864 ^[2]

As a young man he was given the nickname of 'Pudney', but we do not know the origins of this.

William married Alice Emma Bossley on 8 December 1889 in Chalk parish church. ^[3]

He died on 24 March 1927 at 4, Woodville Cottages, Gravesend, Kent, aged 62 ^[4], and was buried in Gravesend Municipal Cemetery on 30 March 1927 ^[5]

William Alexander Bennett, who died 24 March 1927. In the Gravesend Reporter, in the Birth, Marriages and Death column appeared: "BENNETT.__ On March

24th. William Alexander Bennett, aged 62 years, of 4 Woodville Cottages,

Denton, Gravesend, passed peacefully away".
