Biography
James Bennet was the 13th born of 14 siblings. He is the brother of Elnathan Bennet, one of the first settlers of Cheektowaga, who emigrated here in 1816. James immigrated to the Buffalo, NY area with his first wife, Thankful Foster, in 1825. She died in November 1853 and James remarried to Lucy Ann Beckwith Keech. By 1855, James was living in the village of Lancaster, NY at 5631 Broadway. In 1857 he sold this house to Hendrik Koopmans.[1]
