Biography

Elbert was born in 1850.

He was aged 1 month in the 1850 Census for Griffin Township, Conway, Arkansas. His father was Johnson Bennett, age 48 b Georgia. His mother was Mary Bennett, age 43 b South Carolina. Brother Vardamon Bennett was age 20 b Mississippi. Brother Green Bennett was age 18 b Mississippi. Brother Winson Bennett was age 16 b Mississippi. Brother Marion Bennett was age 10 b Arkansas. Brother William Bennett was age 9 b Arkansas. Sister Almeda Bennett was age 6 b Arkansas. Brother James Bennett was age 3 b Arkansas. Also in the household was Andrew Bennett, age 22 b North Carolina.^[1]

Enumerated at age 9 as Albert W Bennett in the 1860 Census for Lick Mountain Township, Conway, Arkansas.^[2]

He was married before he was married to Huldah (Sweeten) Bruce. Evidence for this is his daughter Mary P. Bennett, aged 6 months, in the 1870 Census. As Wayne Bennett, he was living in the household of his father Johnson Bennett, along with his future second wife Huldah (Sweeten) Bruce.^[3]

Mary P. was enumerated in 1880 as Mary P. Sweedun, age 10, living in the household of Johnson and Elizabeth Bennett in Liberty, Van Buren, Arkansas.^[4]

He passed away in 1923.
