Sarah was born on the 27th September 1854, the daughter of John William Bennett (~1825 - ) and Margaret Clara (Rooff) Stevens (~1834 - ) in Soho, Westminster, London. She was christened on the 22nd April 1855 at St Anne's Church, Soho, Westminster, London.[1]

1861 Census on the 7th April 1861 Sarah was living at 19 Crown Street, St Anne, Westminster, Middlesex with her parents John and Margaret and her siblings John and Frederick.[2]
1871 Census on the 2nd April 1871 Sarah was living as 17 year old dressmaker at 117 Wardour Street, Westminster, Middlesex with her widowed mother Margaret, and Sarah's siblings John, Frederick, Charles and Letitia.[3]
Sarah married Alfred Edward Quin (1847 - <1905) on the 22nd September 1872 at St Pancras Church, St Pancras, Middlesex. Sarah was living at 66 Judd Street, Midddlesex. The witnesses were Alfred's brother George Frederick Quin and George's wife Caroline Amelia (Summersby) Quin.[4][5]

On the 7th January 1873 Sarah's son Alfred Bernard was born at 55 Goodge Street, St Pancras, London.[6]
On the 19th August 1875 her son George Frederick was born and they were living at 5 Hollen Street, Soho, Westminster, London.[7]
On the 17th December 1876 her son John Charles was born and they were living at 5 Hollen Street, Soho, Westminster, London.[8]
On the 3rd February 1880 her daughter Clara Rebecca was born and she was the informant. They were living at 5 Hollen Street, Soho, Westminster, London.[9]
1881 Census on the 3rd April 1881 Sarah was living at 20 Lockington Road, Battersea, London with her husband Alfred, and children Alfred Bernard, George Frederick, John Charles and Clara Rebecca.[10]
On the 8th July 1882 Sarah's daughter Ethel Laetitia was born and Sarah was the informant. They were living at 44 Crown Street, Soho, Westminster, London.[11]
On the 15th October 1887 her daughter Ada was born and she was the informant of her birth. She was living at 42 Berwick Street, Westminster, London.[12]
On the 4th December 1889 Sarah's daughter Nelly was born and she was the informant. They were living at 28 Dean Street, Soho, Westminster, London.[13]
1891 Census on the 5th April 1891 Sarah was living at 28 Dean Street, Soho, Westminster, London with her husband Alfred and children Alfred, George, John, Clara, Ethel, Ada and Nelly.[14]
1901 Census on the 31st March 1901 she was 46 years old, living with her daughters Ethel, Ada and Nelly at 4 Portland Street, Westminster, London. She was described as the head of the household, but her husband was still alive and was a casual inmate in the Clerkenwell Workhouse in 1901.[15]
Sarah died on the 17th May 1901 at 4 Portland Street, Westminster, London of tuberculosis of the lungs and bronchitis, and her death was registered in the 2nd quarter 1901 in Westminster, Middlesex.[16][17][18]
