Biography

James Bennett was born 31 May 1666 in Charlestown, the son of John and Mary (Cobham) Bennet.[1] and died Little Compton, Massachusetts (later part of Rhode Island), on 17 February 1729/30.[2]

He married Ruth Rogers on 12 July 1694. Their marriage was recorded in both Taunton and Bristol, Rhode Island.[3][4] Ruth was born on 18 April 1675 in Duxbury, Plymouth Colony, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Pabodie) Rogers.[5][1] James' mother and Ruth's stepmother Marah were sisters.[1]

Ruth died on 28 April 1725 in Little Compton in her 50th year.[6][7]

James then married Mercy Simmons on 13 September 1725 in Little Compton.[1]

James died in Little Compton on 17 February 1729/30 in his 64th year.[8] James' will was dated 1 February 1729/30 and proved 21 April 1730. He named his wife Marcy, executrix, son James and John, and daughter Marcy Bennet.[1]

James and Ruth did not have any children.[1]
