Biography

Benjamin Bennett was born on 25 October 1753 in Groton, Massachusetts. His parents were Benjamin Bennett and Sarah (Lakin) Bennett. [1] [2]

Benjamin's intention to marry Sarah Lakin was published in Groton on 7 April 1778[3]. He married Sarah Lakin, daughter of Simeon & Mary (Unkown) Lakin, on 7 Apr 1778 at Groton, Middlesex, MA - parents of Sarah, Abigail, John, Benjamin V, Daniel & Martha.[4]

Benjamin and Sarah came to Boothbay, Maine, sometime after their marriage, but records regarding their time there are sparse. Five children were recorded as marrying in town[5]:

Benjamin drowned on 11 February 1804 off the coast of Boothbay[5].
