Moses Benson Snr (my great x4 grandfather) lived much of his adult life in Kingston Jamaica due to his involvement in trans-atlantic slavery. His spouse was Judith Powell whom he did not marry as she was a free "mulatto" (coloured). They had 7 children, Mary, James (dec infancy), Moses (the1st dec infancy), Ralph, twins Jane Dorothea & Moses (Jnr) and John. He returned to Liverpool in 1800, died in 1806 and was interred at St. James Church Toxteth. In 1785 he purchased property "Lutwyche Hall" in Shropshire. At that time he was Governor of Bermuda. The mansion was inherited by Ralph Benson and subsequently, his male descendants. It was sold in 1946 by George Reginald Benson.
