Source: Details: Stories on George Benson and his family Citation Text: After John died, Mary and children came to Cornwall, NY USA where George met Mary - he was 22/23 and Mary was 15 - married in 1922-23 - story of George supposedly threatening to commit suicide if Mary did not marry him. George's family may be Protestant and converted to Catholicism. He left Mary and his children in 1939. He died in India in plane crash possibly in service for British Army. NOTE: October 2014 - Carol Dannenfesler and Linda Meiman mentioned to me that George may returned to England after leaving his family and Mary Frances Murphy Lepore in USA. He may have gotten married and had a son named Paul Benson. It is not confirmed.[9] Divorce: Before 1940 & After 1938.
