Cecil was born in 1926. He was the son of Eleazer Benson and Amelia Horwood. He passed away in 2013.

Obituary
November 13, 1926 - September 15, 2013
Passed away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, at age 86, surrounded by his family. Predeceased by his parents: Sandy and Millie; his brothers: George and Donald; sisters, Beulah, Olive, Dorothy and infant Mary; and parents-in-law: Gordon and Belle Patten. Left with cherished memories, his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Pearl; his children: Jeff (Olga McWilliam), Sharon (John Callahan), and David (Kirsten Grabke); precious granddaughters: Amy and Robyn Callahan and Annika and Kianna Benson; sister, Audrey (Robert Lindstrom); brothers: Thomas (Shirley) and Gerald (Ruth); brothers-in-law: Hedley Drover, Chesley (Margaret) Atkins and Matthew (Phyllis) Petten; and sister-in-law Daphne Benson. The family is very thankful for the expert and tender care provided by the staff of Unit 2, 7 W Medicine, St. Clare’s during Cec’s final days. Cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may visit the family at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday Sept. 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 11 a.m. A private interment at the Benson family plot at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road, will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Temple Band Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
