Biography

Silas was born in 1773. He was the son of David Bent and Mary Felch

He married Mary Newcomb about 1799.

Silas was a farmer and a blacksmith.

In 1827, Silas Bent, mechanic, was residing in Annapolis, Annapolis County with a family consisting of 4 males and 2 females.[1]

In 1838, Silas Bent, blacksmith, was residing in Annapolis, Annapolis County with a family consisting of 1 male under fourteen years of age [Dennis], 1 male above fourteen years of age and not head of family [?], 1 female above fourteen years of age [Mary, his wife], total 4 in the family including himself.[2]

He died in 1849 and is buried in the Paradise Cemetery, Paradise, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, Canada.[3]

Bent-1949 and Bent-221 appear to represent the same person because: duplicate except for dob which should be 1773 not 1783

Bent-1671 and Bent-221 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents and similar bio text, but the birth and death dates need to be reconciled.

I doubt that they were brothers. I suspect they were cousins or uncle and nephew and that someone incorrectly treated them as one person. It will take some time to sort this out.

Were there 2 brothers both named Silas Bent married to Mary Newcomb? There are 2 with different Find A Grave links with same parents and same wife with different birth and death dates. Compare to: Bent-1671
