Thanks for merging these. I'm surprised you decided to go with that spelling. In the earliest instance of his name I could find, the 1871 census, his name was Torrey. Some misinterpreted this as Toresey, but it clearly could not be interpreted as Torey. In the Bent Family in America book, his name is Torrey. In fact I can find no reference for Torey anywhere.
