Thomas Bentham was born in Blackrod, Lancashire in about 1806.
He married Alice Kearsley on 7 April 1844, he was age 35, a widower, a collier, and the son of William Bentham, also a collier. Alice was a widow, age 36, the daughter of John Holland, a weaver. Marriage witnesses were Peter Seddon and Ann Howarth [1]
In 1851, the family were living in School Lane, Wigan:
Thomas died in Wigan in 1853, he was 49 years old [3]
