Biography
Joseph was born in 1873 in Knox county, Missouri.
The Bentler family moved to Quincy Illinois in about 1876, where his father Joseph ran a general store & saloon. They only stayed a few years, moving to Minnesota in about 1879.
The 1880 US Census finds 6 year old Joseph in the busy Bentler household in Wright county, Minnesota .[1]
In 1917, Joseph registered for the draft.[7] Joseph's physical description is given as: Medium height and build, with blue eyes and light brown hair. Next of kin listed as a Mrs Nettie Bentler.
