Leona Gertrude Bentley was born 26 Jan 1904 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Daughter of John Bentley (1862-1917) and Arabella Jane (Cassedy) Bentley (1862-1945).[1]
In the 1911 census Leona was the single daughter of John H Bentley at Victoria City Sub-Districts 1-14, British Columbia, Canada.[2]
Leona (age 17), daughter of John Bentley & Arabella Jane Cassidy, married Wilfrid Barbe (age 21), son of Wilfrid Barbe & Ovino Blenne, on 25 March 1921 in Vancouver County, British Columbia, Canada.[3] She was a waitress and he was an engineer. As per her death record, they ended up divorcing. At least two children were born from this marriage:
- Wilfred Barbe (1922-1922)
- Leona Beverley Barbe born 4 Apr 1923
Leona moved to Washington, United States on March 23, 1926. She was a barber at the time.[4]
In the 1940 census Leona (age 36) was the divorced head of household in Seattle, King, Washington, United States.[5]
In 1941 she applied for citizenship and took the Oath of Alligencience 15 Dec 1950.[4]
Leona married Chris Bartell on 13 July 1942. The marriage licence was issued on 9 Jul 1942.[6] They would divorce before 1950.
In the 1950 census Leona (age 47) was the divorced head of household in Seattle, King, Washington, United States.[7] She was living in the front upper unit of the house while Chris was living in the rear unit.
Leona passed away in 1971[1][8] and was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Seattle, King County, Washington, United States with a death date of 1 September 1971.[9]

In Leona's petition for Naturalization her daughters last name is listed as Roberts and living in Poulsbo, Washington.
