Biography

Nellie Ethlyn Bentley was the fifth child of Anson Gaylord Bentley (1860–1943) and Mary Ephaline Warden (1864–1954), who were married on 17 July 1883 in Nodaway County, Missouri. She was the sister of Morley, Meryle Claire, Mable Floe, Louie, and Anson, Jr.

Residence in 1900 was in Ravenwood village in Jackson township of Nodaway County, Missouri.^[1] Nellie 2 was at home with their mother, Mary E 35. Her sisters, Merle 13 and Floe 12, were at school. Her father, A.E. 39, was a bank president. They owned their home free of mortgage and her parents had been married for 17 years.

Residence in 1910 was in Ravenwood village in Jackson township of Nodaway County, Missouri.^[2] Nellie 11 was at home with two siblings; Floye M 20, and Gaylord 5 and their mother, Mary E 45. Her father, A.G. 49 was a retail merchant of general merchandise. He owned their house free of mortgage.

Residence in 1920 was at Excelsior Springs city, Fishing River township, Clay county, Missouri.^[3] Nellie E 21, was a real estate office stenographer and her sister, Floe M 29 was a music teacher. Her olderst sister, Merl C Casteel 32 and her youngest sibling, Gaylord 14, were at home with her mother, Mary E 55. Her father, A.G. 59 was the proprietor of a grocery store. They owned the farm where they lived at 410 The Concourse.

Nellie Ethlyn Bentley, was married to Jay T Collins on 1 January 1921. He was the son of Simeon Collins (1873–1962) and Gertrude Williams (1877–1950), who were married on 23 April 1895 in Clay County, Missouri.

Residence in 1930 was in Mosby town, Fishing River twonship in Clay County, Missouri.^[4] Nelle 30 was at home and her husband, J.T. 30 was a lumber yard merchant. They were renting their house for $10 and owned a radio. No children.

She then married Byron Floyd Garrett on 26 December 1940 in Clark county, Nevada. Byron was the son of Jesse Franklin Garrett (1860–1954) and Emma Elmyra Floyd (1878–1949) of Yakima, Washington.^[5]

The death of father, Anson Gaylord Bentley was on 17 September 1943 in Excelsior Springs, Clay County, Missouri.

Her mother, Mary Ephaline Warden, died on 15 May 1954 in Missouri.

Her husband, Byron Floyd Garrett, died on 17 January 1991 in Santa Clara, California. Her former husband Jay T Collins, died on 13 December 1991 in Clay County, Missouri.

Nellie Ethlyn Bentley Garrett died on 10 November 1995. Her burial was in the same cemetery as her parents, the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ravenwood, Nodaway County, Missouri.^[6][7]
