Biography
"Eliyabet daughter of Daniel BENWELL was baptised Apr 16" per Hartley Wintney parish baptismal record.(1) Had a brother called John (baptized 26 Oct 1760), and a sister called Anne (baptized Nov 19 1780).
She was predeceased by an elder brother, Joseph, who was buried on Feb 4 1755. Another brother, James, was buried 21 Jan 1760.(2)
"Banns & marriage between Thos HONEYBUN & Elizabeth BENWELL both of this parish were published Mar 19 1786 & the 2 following Sundays & were married in this church Apr 29 1786 X groom made his mark & bride signed in the presence of Daniel BENWELL & X Mary HONEYBUN mad her mark."(3)
Elizabeth's sister Anne: "William BENWELL of this parish & Ann BENWELL also of this parish married in this church by banns Sept 5 1805 both signed in the presence of William GIBLETT Elinor PEALE & Elizabeth SMITH."(4)
Elizabeth Benwell was buried on July 30 1793. Not clear why her married name was not used.(2) Her husband remarried in 1798 to Mary Pearce.
