The LNABs for all of the children born in Alsace should be probably Köppel. It looks like the umlaut gets dropped on arrival to America, and there those children born there should probably be 'Koppel'. Also, Köppel is the same as Koeppel, as when you cannot type an umlaut, oe is used instead of ö.

Thanks Greg. Yes, I agree as I still speak German. I have modified my research tree (on MyHeritage) and will do so here too, as this tree was copied to WikiTree some time ago and I am not as diligent with the copy.

S'guet. :)

As I now live in Switzerland, I tend to notice when the umlauts get dropped. I know a number of folks with umlauts in their names, and they almost always try to preserve them properly.
