Jesse Raymond Berchtold, 89, formerly of 15361 Furrow Road, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin.

Born Dec. 12, 1915, in Tremont to Jesse Elmer and Marie Boehning Berchtold, he married Altamae Smith on Nov. 25, 1936, in Pekin. She died May 9, 2003, in Pekin.

He also was preceded in death by one brother.

Surviving are one son, David of Lafayette, Calif.; one daughter, Donna Kerskner of Vallejo, Calif.; and two sisters, Beulah Park of Morton and Opal Gauger of Tremont.

He was an engineer at Caterpillar Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1975. He also farmed in the South Pekin area for 20 years.

Interment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
