M, b. 23 October 1608, d. before 23 July 1657 Charts Beresford, Dorothy - Descendant Chart; Maj. John Brodnax Gent. was baptized on 23 October 1608 at Godmersham, Co. Kent. He married Dorothy Beresford on 29 October 1629 at Chartham, Co. Kent. Maj. John Brodnax Gent., died before 23 July 1657 at York County, VA.

Maj. John Brodnax was the son of Thomas Brodnax, Gent., of Godmersham, Kent by his second wife, Elizabeth Taylor, daughter of John Taylor, Esq.

Major Brodnax supported the Crown throughout the English Civil War. So, after the downfall of King Charles I, he left the country and emigrated to York County, Virginia about 1640.
