Anne was born before 1789.
She was the wife of Laurence Murphy. Number of children unknown but included
On arrival in New South Wales, both Mary and Jane said they came from County Carlow in Ireland, but no record of Mary's birth was located in Tinryland where records go back beyond her birth year. Therefore it is probable that Laurence and Anne were living elsewhere when Mary was born. Possibly they lived in Co. Kilkenny where it is thought Laurence had family, or perhaps they lived in another parish of Carlow but where birth/christening records are less complete.
Looking at the names of the baptismal sponsors for the three children christened in Tinryland, two have the surname Bergan but none are Murphys. One might guess that Carlow was home to the Bergans but perhaps not close to the Murphy family of the children's father.
Nothing else is known of Anne Bergan.[1]
