Biography

Anna Catherine "Nancy" Bergdoll was born 30 Jul 1927 in Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, USA. She was the daughter of Harry Francis Bergdoll and Anna Lambert. She was white. [1] Anna was an immigrant from Galicia (modern day Austria or Poland) and had been living with Ms Catherine Mahoney since her arrival in the US. Nancy had an older sister Marie Augusta Bergdoll (2).

1930s

In 1930, Anna Bergdoll (2y8m) lived in Chester with her father Harry (35), mother Anna (32), sister Mary (5), and Ms Kathryn Mahoney (63). Their home was valued at $7500. They had a radio. Harry's age of first marriage was 25 and mother Anna was 23. Mother Anna had been born in Eastern Galicia, spoke German and English, immigrated 1912, and was a naturalized citizen. Harry worked in general hauling. Harry, Mary, daughter Anna, and Kathryn were born in Pennsylvania. [2]

In Apr 1935, Anna Bergdoll lived with her family in Chester. [3]

On 19 Feb 1938, her brother William Henry Bergdoll was born in Chester.

1940s

On 12 Apr 1940, Ann Bergdoll (12) lived in Chester City (10th Ward) with her father Harry F (45), mother Anna (42), older sister Mary (15), younger brother William (2), and Ms Catherine Mahoney (73). Their owned home was valued at $2300; they did not live on a farm. They were white. Harry was married, highest grade of eduction completed was 6th, born in Pennsylvania, and worked 50 hours the previous week as a hauling contractor; he worked 40 weeks in 1939 with no salary. Anna was married, finished 5th grade, born in Austria, a naturalized US citizen, and a homemaker. Mary was attending school, finished her first year of high school, was born in Pennsylvania. Ann was attending school, finished 6th grade, and born in Pennsylvania. William was born in Pennsylvania. Catherine was single, finished 5th grade, born in Pennsylvania, and a homemaker. In Apr 1935 they lived in the same house (except William who had not yet been born). [3]

In 1942, her father Harry Bergdoll (47) and mother Anna lived at 2220 W 3rd St in Chester's 10th ward. Harry worked at his company Bergdoll Hauling & Contractor. Harry was white, 5'8.5", 165 pounds, brown hair, brown eyes, dark complexion. [4]

On 5 Aug 1947, Nancy Bergdoll was maid of honor for her sister Marie's wedding to Frank Warren Fritz in Village Green, Aston Township. [5]

Nancy dated Lashelle Fritz, the brother of her Marie's husband.

On 29 Jul 1948, her father Harry Bergdoll (52y4m26d) died at Chester Hospital in Chester from arteriosclerotic heart disease due to left ventricular failure. He resided on Concord Road in Village Green, rural Delaware County, was white, married to Anna Lambert (50), and a retired contractor. He had been born 3 Mar 1896 in Boothwyn, Delaware County and the son of George Bergdoll (born in Philadelphia) and Anna Whalen (born in Philadelphia). The informant of his death was his wife Mrs Anna Bergdoll of Concord Road. He was buried August 2nd at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood. [6] [7] [8] [9]

On 12 Apr 1950, Nancy Bergdoll (22) lived on W Branch Road with her mother Anna C Bergdoll (52), sister Marie B Fritz (25), brother-in-law Frank W Fritz (24), nephew F C Fritz (<10), and family friend Ms Katherine Mahoney (83). They did not live on a farm but did have more than three acres property. They were white. Katherine was never married, born in Pennsylvania, and a homemaker. Frank was married, born in Pennsylvania, worked 42 hours the previous week for a private dairy company. Marie was married, born in Pennsylvania, and a homemaker. Nancy was never married, born in Pennsylvania, a homemaker, lived in the same house a year ago, father born in US, mother born in Austria, high school graduate, worked 52 weeks in 1949 with a salary of $2200 in a telephone company job performing statistical drafting, and household relatives had a 1949 salary of $3500. Anna was widowed, born in Austria, and a homemaker. [10]

On 11 Aug 1950, Nancy Bergdoll married Charles Lashelle Fritz in Saratoga, New York. [11] Lashelle was the son of Walter and Alice Fritz.

In the early 1950s, her daughter C A Fritz was born.

The Fritz family lived in Concord Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

In the mid 1950s, her son L L Fritz was born.

In Aug 1953, the Bergdoll family's long time friend, Catherine Mahoney (86) died in Chester. [12]

1960s

In the 1960s, her son E Fritz (still living) was born.

On 12 Aug 1961, her mother Anna C Bergdoll (62) died at Delaware Hospital in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware from myocardial infarction due to coronary thrombosis and coronary arteriosclerosis Her usual residence had been 108 Elkinton Ave in Chester. She was white, widowed, and worked as a housewife. She had been born 23 Nov 1898 in Austria, the daughter of Peter Wembert, and a US citizen at the time of her death. The informant of her death was her daughter Mrs Marie Fritz of Oakbourne Rd in Westtown. She was buried on August 16th at Lawncroft Cemetery in Linwood, Delaware County, PA. [13] [14] [15]

1970s

Her daughter C A Fritz married E Pienkowski (still living).

In the mid 1970s, her son L L Fritz married Miss Barbara Ann Stang. Barbara was the daughter of Howard L and Florence Wallace Stang.

Her daughter A C Fritz married Howard S "Brud" Curtis.

1980s

In the 1980s, Nancy's three grandchildren were born: L E Fritz, R R Fritz, and G L Fritz.

2000s

On 4 Jan 2001, Nancy C Fritz (73) died in Marcus Hook, Delaware County. She was buried at Saint Thomas the Apostle Church Cemetery in Chester Heights. [16] [1] [17]

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore an aqua satin dress with brown accessories. She wore a corsage of orchids. Miss Nancy Ann Bergdoll, Village Green, was maid of honor for her sister. She wore palomino satin with brown accessories, and a corsage of talisman roses. John J. Coogan, of Philadelphia, served as best man. Mrs. Bergdoll was attired in a pink crepe dress with black accessories, and a corsage of pink rosebuds. The bridegroom's mother wore a black dress trimmed with red sequins, and a corsage of red rosebuds. A reception was given at the Bergdoll home, after which the couple left on a motor trip through New England and Canada. They will reside at the home of the bride.
