Biography

Adella Anna Berger was born on 18 April 1916 at home on the family farm at Charlotte, near the town of Drake in Gasconade County. Her parents were John Herman Berger and Martha Brehe. She had three sisters, Talitha Berger, Vasthi Hilkerbaumer, and Flora Thompson; and six brothers, Gerhardt, Julius, Joel, Amos, [Living] and an infant brother.

In 1920,^[1], 1930^[2], and 1940^[3], Adelia was living with her family in Boeuf Township of Gasconade County, Missouri.

Adelia was baptized and confirmed at St. James Evangelical Church, near Drake. She attended the Kiehl School receiving an eighth grade education. She worked as a domestic in St. Louis prior to marriage and additionally at the McQuay Plant there. Later she worked for International Shoe Company in Hermann.

As a homemaker, Adella loved flowers and gardening, quilting, crochet, and sewing of various kinds. She was an excellent cook, baker, and homegrown produce preserver. She was an avid letter and card writer. She taught her family the art of thrift. She persisted in pondering on spiritual truth and was faithful to visit the sick. She enjoyed entertaining friends and family and playing pinochle.

Adelia married Edwin L. Mueller of Hermann. They were married on 25 October 1946 at St. James Church at Charlotte, Gasconade County, Missouri.^[4][5] They had two daughters. Edwin passed on 16 November 2003.

Adelia resided in Hermann, Gasconade County, Missouri.^[6] At age 91 she entered Victorian Manor in Hermann, then Frene Valley Nursing Home in Hermann at age 95, and finally Frene Valley Nursing Home South in Owensville at 98 years of age.

Death

Adella passed away at age 102 on 18 December 2018 at Frene Valley Nursing Home in Owensville, Gasconade County, Missouri. She was buried Saturday, December 29 at Oak Haven Cemetery^[7], south of Hermann. At the time of her death, she had seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and great-grandchild Anneka Adelia Bohl who predeceased her.^[8]
