Samuel was born in 1850 in Canada.[1] He is listed in the Canadian census records in 1851 and 1861 with his parents. He was the son of Christian Berger and Catherine Bauer.
He is listed with his mother in the 1870 and 1880 Illinois census records. For the next several decades Samuel is found living in the Tazewell County Alms House.[2], [3], [4]
He passed away in 1937 [5] and is buried in Tennessee Point Cemetery in Tazewell County, Illinois.[6]
