"C. J. Bergers fader, Johan Christian Berger, var född i Göteborg den 29 maj 1763 och löjtnant vid Arméns flotta samt kofferdikapten. Han förde bl.a. befälet på galeasen Carl Georg, som tillhörde rådmännen Carl Lindqvist och J. J. Kempe i Nykarleby. Fartyget förliste den 29 aug. 1801 med man och allt på återresan från Lübeck. "
