Death of Frank B. Berger,

Frank B. Berger, one of the most popular and prominent farmers of this section, died suddenly at his home a few miles northeast of Weimar, Sunday afternoon. Mr. Berger was in town Saturday last, apparently in good health. He was well Sunday, but after eating a hearty dinner complained of feeling badly and as his sufferings increased a physician was hurriedly summoned, who pronounced him a victim of acute indigestion. He gave Mr. Berger relief, and left some medicine for him to take later in the evening. Mr. Berger apparently got all right, and was feeling very well. Late in the evening his devoted wife reminded him of the medicine the physician had left for him to take. She went into the kitchen to get a glass of water for him, and t was while in there for a few moments that grim Death claimed this splendid citizen, for he was dead when she returned, having apparently expired without a struggle. The body was tenderly prepared for burial, and on Monday afternoon at 4 :30 was laid to rest in St. Michael's cemetery, in the presence of a large crowd of sympathizing relatives and friends, Rev. J. Szymanski officiating.

Mr. Berger was born in Gros, Petersdorf, Mehren, Austria, Sept. 4, 1856. Died March 18, 1917, being 60 years, 6 months and 14 days old at the time of his death. He emigrated to Texas in November, 1870. first settling at High Hill, afterward moving to the present Berger home place, where he resided continuously for twenty-eight. years, He was married to Miss Mary Richter October 25, 1881. He is survived by the bereaved widow and the following children: Mrs. Annie Schneider, Edmund Berger, Ferd. B. Berger, Mrs. Paulina Skrovan, Henry Frank and Otto Berger, Miss Meta Berger, all of this vicinity, and Mrs. Ida Insall of Fredericksburg. Two children, Joe and Emil, are dead.

Mr. Berger was a man highly thought of by all who knew him. He was honest, industrious, a splendid neighbor and friend, the most devoted of husbands and fathers, and a man whose frugality and energy had provided a substantial sustenance for those he left behind. He was very popular throughout this section, and his death has caused much sorrow. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to the bereaved family. Weimar Mercury, March 23, 1917, page 1
