Frederick Henry Charles Bergman was born on October 13, 1828, in Metel (part of Neustadt am Rübenberge), Lower Saxony, Germany, his father, Johann, was 50 and his mother, Catharine, was 23. He married Sophia “Dorothea” Deeke and they had seven children together. He then married Emelie Kobs on February 1, 1873, in Concordia, Missouri. He died on September 14, 1909, in Concordia, Missouri, having lived a long life of 80 years. [1]
