Zelma Hedin, born Bergnehr was a starring Swedish actress of the mid-19th century. Before the age of 13, Selma Berghnér was admitted as a pupil at the Royal Theatre. She made her stage debut in December 1842 and was permanently employed as actress from 1845. Her strength was in French comedies, as "la Grande Intrigante". After fracturing a leg in 1865 Zelma's health deteriorated and she eventually retired.[1]
According to the household record for Torö parish, Selma Carolina Esolinda was born in Stockholm 31 May 1827. She was the daughter of customs inspector Carl Wilhelm Bergnéhr and his wife Carolina Wilhelmina Charlotta von Philp and had an elder sister, Wilhelmina Leocadia Theresia.[2]
In 1838 the family lived in the customs house in Sabbatsberg.[3] In 1840-1842 Zelma Bergnéhr lived with three other theatre pupils and a matron in the Norrström quarter (the Opera house).[4][5] In 1843 she was a boarder in the household of actress and teacher Carolina Bock.[6]
Selma Carolina Esolinda Bergnéhr married the actor Lars Gustaf Kinmansson 29 June 1845.[7] They had two children and were divorced 16 May 1849.[8] After the divorce, she called herself Bergmansson for some time.[9]
In 1854 Zelma Esolinda Carolina Bergnehr married Gustaf Henrik Leonard Hedin.[1][10]
Zelma Carolina Esolinda Hedin, born Bergnéhr, actress at the Royal Theatre, wife of the auditor Gustaf Henric Leonard Hedin at the General Post Office, died 11 February 1874.[11]
