Biography

Per Bergrot in Skale died 24 December 1773. He was born in Berge, Hanebo parish 25 November 1721. His father was Mats Olofsson and his mother Jertru Jonsdotter. He lived with his parents for 17 years, then served with his brother-in-law Olof Hansson in Vesterberga for 3 years, before he came to Skale in Söderala parish where he served in the household of Per Svensson for 3 1/2 years. Then he moved in with quartermaster Lars Astner and married his eldest daughter, jungfru Brita Astner 29 May 1745. They lived together for 12 1/2 years and had six children before Brita died in childbed. Per Bergroth then married Brita Jonsdotter from Lingbo in Skog parish. He was survived by his widow, two sons and two daughters from his first marriage, one son and one of the two daughters from his second marriage.[1]
