Jane was born about 1510 probably the daughter of Thomas Berkeley and his wife, Eleanor. On 24 June 1527 she married Nicholas Poyntz, son of Sir Anthony Poyntz of Iron Acton in Gloucestershire. She bore him eight or nine children. Her husband made his will on 26 February 1556 and died on 27 or 28 November.
Jane took as her second husband Sir Thomas Dyer and bore him three sons. It is said that his ill-treatment of her caused her death.
